Orbis Corp.,
a manufacturer of returnable packaging products, has announced that
the company has formed an alliance with Microban Products Co. (MPC),
a provider of antimicrobial technology. Orbis says the alliance
enables it to incorporate the benefits of antimicrobial product
protection into a wide variety of returnable packaging products.
Microban’s antimicrobial
products, which are molded into plastic containers during the manufacturing
process, are designed to inhibit the growth of stain- and odor-causing
bacteria, mold and mildew.
Orbis says the
use of the Microban products will not eliminate the need for disinfectants
or replace conventional hygiene practices. “What it is designed
to do is provide an additional level of protection against odor-
and stain-causing microbes in between regular cleanings,” the company
says. “This is especially helpful in hard-to-clean areas.”
