Aiming to “bridge
the gap between execution planning and transportation,”Manhattan
Associates Inc. has acquired certain Logistics.com assets from Internet
Capital Group for a one-time cash payment of approximately $20 million.
The acquisition
merges the resources of a leading supply chain execution technology
vendor (Manhattan) with the logistics planning and execution solutions
of Logistics.com. According to Manhattan, the move allows the company
to expand its existing transportation management offerings. Logistics.com’s
integrated transportation solutions are designed to enable users
to buy, sell, manage and optimize transportation services. Specif
ically, the solutions cover shipper and carrier management and contractual
and spot procurement across all modes of transportation—domestic
and international. For customers, the benefits include lower costs,
better customer service and better shipment visibility.
“The combined
solutions and resources of Manhattan Associates and Logistics.com
provide the industry with the broadest suite of integrated supply
chain execution solutions, which will greatly benefit our collective
customers,” says Manhattan Associates’ president and CEO, Richard
Haddrill. “Our customers will gain access to Logistics.com’s functionally
robust transportation solutions, which effectively manage the single
largest and most controllable cost in the supply chain— transportation,
while Logistics.com’s customers can take advantage of our industry-leading
extended supply chain solutions.”
