The Schulich
School of Business at Toronto’s York University will offer a week-long
residential program in supply chain management both next month and
in June.
The school is
also offering a two-day program on collaborative planning, forecasting
and replenishment (CPFR). That course will be offered in March and
repeated in August.
The five-day
supply chain management program, Essentials of Supply Chain and
Logistics Management, is co-sponsored by the Council of Logistics
Management. The cou rse wi ll cover such topics as supply chain
and logistics strategies; strategic sourcing; inventory and distribution
management; supply chain performance measurement and benchmarking;
gaining competitive advantage from information technology; and leveraging
outsourcing and strategic alliances. The dates of the program, which
will take place at the Schulich School’s Donald B. McCaskill Centre,
are Ma rch 16-21 and June 22-27. The cost of the program is $3,000
U.S.
The CPFR program
wi ll be offered March 3-4 and repeated Aug. 14-15 at the university’s
Miles S. Nadal Management Centre. Joe Andraski, senior vice president
of OMI International and one of North America’s leading experts
on CPFR, will lead these two-day seminars.
Supply chain
collaboration has been one of the most important initiatives available
to businesses, creating competitive advantages for some of North
America’s leading companies. This course is designed to g ive participants
a clear understanding of collaborative commerce and provide them
with the tools needed to create plans to implement CPFR in their
own companies. Included in the course will be presentations on upstream
CPFR, collaborative transportation management, the CPFR Benefits
Calculator, and internal and external assessment tools. The fee
for the program is $1,599.65. Members of the Council of Logistics
Management can register for $1,492.65.

The Warehousing
Education and Research Council (WERC) has several two-day seminars
lined up over the next several months. The organization is offering
four programs that are designed specifically for warehouse managers
and supervisors with varying levels of experience.
Programs scheduled
through mid-year include: WMS: Steps to Success, March 17- 18, in
Nashville, Tenn. The seminar walks participants through the critical
steps of WMS implementation, from an assessment of needs to the
selection of an appropriate system to going live. WERC recommends
the program for anyone responsible for purchasing and implementing
IS systems, including IS managers, warehouse and distribution managers
and directors, WMS project managers and operations managers.
Maximizing Warehouse
Space: The Key to Productivity, March 19-20, in Nashville and July
21-22 in Atlanta. This seminar puts participants “in the driver’s
seat.” On the first day, they examine the elements of space planning.
On day two, groups redesign a fictional distribution center using
the techniques learned the previous day.
The program
is intended for warehouse managers and supervisors, engineers, those
responsible for warehouse productivity and those managing operational
change.
Managing Warehouse
Operations, May 19-20, in Atlanta. This program is aimed at newly
hired warehouse and office personnel, newly hired or experienced
warehouse supervisors, warehouse managers who want a refresher,
and others who want an overview of warehouse operations.
The fourth course,
Management Skills for Warehouse Supervisors, will be offered later
in the year.
The fee for
each seminar is $699: Discounts are available if more than one person
