going back to werc
The Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC) has several two-day seminars lined up over the next several months. The organization is offering four programs that are designed specifically for warehouse managers and supervisors with varying levels of experience.

Programs scheduled through mid-year include: WMS: Steps to Success, March 17- 18, in Nashville, Tenn. The seminar walks participants through the critical steps of WMS implementation, from an assessment of needs to the selection of an appropriate system to going live. WERC recommends the program for anyone responsible for purchasing and implementing IS systems, including IS managers, warehouse and distribution managers and directors, WMS project managers and operations managers.

Maximizing Warehouse Space: The Key to Productivity, March 19-20, in Nashville and July 21-22 in Atlanta. This seminar puts participants “in the driver’s seat.” On the first day, they examine the elements of space planning. On day two, groups redesign a fictional distribution center using the techniques learned the previous day.

The program is intended for warehouse managers and supervisors, engineers, those responsible for warehouse productivity and those managing operational change.

Managing Warehouse Operations, May 19-20, in Atlanta. This program is aimed at newly hired warehouse and office personnel, newly hired or experienced warehouse supervisors, warehouse managers who want a refresher, and others who want an overview of warehouse operations.

The fourth course, Management Skills for Warehouse Supervisors, will be offered later in the year.

The fee for each seminar is $699: Discounts are available if more than one person from a company attends. Additional information and registration forms are available on the WERC Web site, www.werc.org. For additional information, call (630) 990-0001 or e-mail wercoffice@werc.org
